If you have acid reflux, no doubt you know just how important the role of diet is in stopping it from occuring. At the same time though, you likely know that nailing down the right acid reflux diet is easier said than done. In this guide to acid reflux diets, we are going to teach you how to get rid of acid reflux once and for all.

The first step to building up your acid reflux diet plan is to eliminate gluten. Gluten is a real problem when it comes to acid reflux, so do everything you can to remove it from your diet. I recommend using things like rice instead of bread whenever possible and just cutting out other bread products like pizza entirely. Marinara sauce isn’t that great for acid reflux anyway so it would be good for you and your waistline to skip over it.

The next step is to eat a lot of fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are strong anti-inflammatories which can reduce acid reflux. They can also help you lose weight which is a nice feature for acid reflux sufferers. The biggest thing you can do to reduce acid reflux is to lose weight anyway so it really helps if you can eat a low-calorie diet.

One thing though to consider is that many vegetables are hard to digest and can cause problems and even acid reflux for sensitive individuals. In these cases, you want to make sure to steam as many vegetables as you can as this will reduce the amount digestion that needs to occur since it breaks down the bond which hold the vegetable cells together. Steaming also does little to reduce the nutritional content of the vegetables that you are wanting to eat (boiling does though, so do not go overboard).

Finally, be sure to avoid eating sugar. Sugar causes a lot of inflammation in the stomach, which leads to acid reflux. The same goes for alcohol. These are two foods you definitely want to avoid if you want to live a reflux-free lifestyle. They are just serious problems for everyone that consumes them. Get rid of them and you will lose weight and reduce acid reflux. The perfect acid reflux diet contains no sugar or alcohol and plenty of fruit and steamed vegetables.
